St Michael de Rupe is one of the iconic landmarks of West Devon.

Founded in 1130 by the local landowner Robert Giffard, St Michael’s is the fourth smallest parish church in the UK, and the highest working church in England.

The church is only slightly over 11 metres long and 4 metres wide , although the original chapel, built around 1130,  was much smaller than the current one; it was rebuilt and enlarged in the 14th century.
